Karna MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Karna? Karna is an ISTP personality type in MBTI, 3w4 - - 386 in Enneagram, in Big 5, in Socionics.

This character has been progressively whitewashed over the ages. In the original epic he is portrayed to have fewer redeeming characters than even Duryodhana. He's a prime example of an unhealthy 3. His singular goal is to become the greatest warrior and be acknowledged as such. (Ni) After his initial challenges with Arjuna, he's dead set on beating (and later slaying) him. This despite Arjuna (Ne) not really causing him any grievance. He's so obsessed that he sticks to his goal even after knowing Arjuna is his brother (lack of Si sentimentality). Arjuna however is extremely remorseful once he learns the truth (Ne/Si). Karna lets Duryodhana manipulate his inferior Fe to form an extremely loyal friendship. He either fails to realise or overlooks the fact that Duryodhana isn't exactly the champion of the common man and is merely using him towards his own goal. While normally cold, he is prone to taking joy in getting a reaction out of people (he played a key role in Draupadi's humiliation). He also does simplistic acts of helping people (like donating stuff). This is characteristic of low Fe.

Biography

Karna (Sanskrit: कर्ण, IAST: Karṇa), also known as Vasusena, Anga-raja, & Radheya is one of the main protagonists of the Hindu epic Mahābhārata .He is the son of the sun god Surya and princess Kunti (mother of the Pandavas), and thus a demigod of royal birth. Kunti was granted the boon to bear a child with desired divine qualities from the gods without much knowledge, Kunti invoked the sun god to confirm it if it was true indeed. Karna was secretly born to an unmarried Kunti in her teenage years, fearing outrage and backlash from society over her premarital pregnancy, Kunti had no choice but to abandon the newly born Karna adrift in a basket on the Ganges, in the hope that he finds foster parents. He is a tragic hero in the Mahabharata. He meets his biological mother later, &then discovers that he is the older half-brother of those he is fighting against. His story has inspired many secondary works, poetry and dramatic plays in the Hindu arts tradition, both in india & southeast Asia.
