* THE FOCUS OF THIS ANALYSIS IS ON FARAMIR FROM "THE LORD OF THE RINGS" MOVIES, NOT ON THE CHARACTER'S VERSION FROM THE BOOKS! * “A chance for Faramir, Captain of Gondor, to show his quality” ~Faramir Many of you have voted Faramir as being an INFP, and I can agree about that. However, I disagree with one aspect of your votes, and that is his Enneagram type. To start, it would be good to discuss the Enneagram type 4, why it fits Faramir, and then why Kazuya cannot be a Core 9, but before all, we need to define the two Enneagram types. 𝟏. 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝟗: According to „The Enneagram Institute”, Enneagram Type Nines are accepting, trusting, and stable. They are usually creative, optimistic, and supportive, but can also be too willing to go along with others to keep the peace. They want everything to go smoothly and be without conflict, but they can also tend to be complacent, simplifying problems and minimizing anything upsetting. They typically have problems with inertia and stubbornness. Key Motivations: Want to create harmony in their environment, to avoid conflicts and tension, to preserve things as they are, to resist whatever would upset or disturb them. Type nine represents "sloth" or "indolence." This is less about physical laziness and more about a tendency to avoid fully engaging with life, especially when it involves conflict or uncomfortable change. Nines seek peace and harmony. Some characteristics are: avoidance, accommodating, passivity, daydreaming, procrastination, comfort-seeking. 𝟮. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗿 𝗜𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝟵: First of all, neither in the movies nor in the books is there any evidence that Faramir was a lazy person (it's not about physical laziness). He is an active and responsible leader, making tough decisions and acting decisively for the good of Gondor and its people. Although he prefers to avoid conflict when possible and is known for his calmness and poise, this does not mean that he lacks energy or the desire to get involved in his life and the issues that affect him and others. Secondly, where do you see "avoidance" in Faramir? Faramir openly expresses his views and principles, even if they may contradict external expectations or orders. He does not suppress or neglect his own voice to avoid conflict, but follows his conscience and personal values. For example, He could have taken the ring of power and given it to his father, but he preferred to let Frodo escape and pay for it with his own life. Now it's time to define enneagram 4. 𝟑. 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝟒: According to „The Enneagram Institute”, Fours are self-aware, sensitive, and reserved. They are emotionally honest, creative, and personal, but can also be moody and self-conscious. Withholding themselves from others due to feeling vulnerable and defective, they can also feel disdainful and exempt from ordinary ways of living. They typically have problems with melancholy, self-indulgence, and self-pity. Key Motivations: Want to express themselves and their individuality, to create and surround themselves with beauty, to maintain certain moods and feelings, to withdraw to protect their self-image, to take care of emotional needs before attending to anything else, to attract a “rescuer.” Type four is associated with "envy." Fours feel there is something fundamentally missing in themselves, and they often envy others who seem to have what they lack, particularly in terms of identity or personal significance. Some characteristics are: intensity, identity-seeking, emotional sensitivity, melancholy, desire for authenticity. Before arguing why Farmir is core 4, it would be best to make a summary about him, to get to know him better. [1/3]
