What personality type is Hiro Hamada? Hiro Hamada is an INTP personality type in MBTI, 5w4 - sp/so - 539 in Enneagram, SCUAI in Big 5, ILE in Socionics.
It would be cool if Hiro was an ENTP… but even I have to admit that it’s not the case. ENTP’s and INTP’s can be quite similar, sharing the same functions, just in a different order. However, rewatching the movie made it clear to me that he uses Ti over Ne. With ENTP’s first function being Ne, their favourite thing about projects is the start- dreaming up tons of ideas and possibilities for where the project might go. Meanwhile, the struggle kicks in with execution. We can see quite clearly that this isn’t the case for Hiro. When he was brainstorming for the robotics showcase, the challenge for him was coming up with the idea. If he were an ENTP, we would undoubtedly see him quickly come up with an idea, then switch upon losing interest or something not working out. Hiro, on the other hand, like other INTP’s, can be an perfectionist. He wouldn’t let himself start until he had an idea that met his standards. Also, when he said “I’ll think of something else… there’s got to be another way!”, that was the most Ti-Ne thing I’ve ever seen. He wasn’t willing to accept the outcome, (which was losing Baymax) so he tried to solve the problem more effectively (Ti) by coming up with more solutions and possibilities (Ne). I noticed that one of the arguments for ENTP is his confidence and energy. However, contrary to popular belief, INTP’s can be quite enthusiastic, at least in their field of expertise. When they’re passionate about something, combined with an archive of knowledge… let’s just say your introverted friend will take you by surprise. Almost certainly, Hiro’s energy is a byproduct of his love of science. And anyways, who wouldn’t feel confident about something they’re gifted at? Hiro is one the best INTP’s I’ve ever seen, and it’s refreshing to finally see an accurate representation of the type. Not an emotionless robot- but an curious investigator, an enthusiastic learner, and a true friend.
Biography
Hiro Hamada is the protagonist of Big Hero 6. He is a fourteen-year-old robotics prodigy living in San Fransokyo under the care of his aunt and older brother Tadashi. After Tadashi's sudden death at the hands of a kabuki-masked villain, Hiro—with support from his healthcare companion, Baymax—became the founder and leader of Big Hero 6.
