What personality type is James Hurley? James Hurley is an ISFP personality type in MBTI, 4w5 - sp/sx - 469 in Enneagram, RCUAI in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.
He's such an obvious and clear ISFP in everything, from his presentation, to his hobbies and motivations for them to just generally whenver he talks you can just observe the Fi-Se so clearly it's like not debatable even. I could make an actual argument but there's both too many examples and everybody already agrees anyway. I'm not completely sold on 4w5 though, it's true that he can be percieved as misudnerstood and very inpdedent but I wouldn't actually say that's his natural state. Over the series you see him move away from others (like Donna) but I would say those are more like transitional periods. I'd in fact say it's quite the opposite, I can see 4 in his tritype but to me he seems possibly like a 6. He may be indepedent but he is also very loyal, he very clearly emphacizes trust in relationship and stuck together with Donna and Maddie. You can also see he was rather dependent on Laura (something that wasn't shared unfortunately for him). He may not be exactly people's person like lot of 6w7s but I wouldn't really say he desires signifiance the way 4w5s do either. I could be wrong and I'm willing to have my mind changed but 4 just immidately struck me as slightly off.
