Being a rebellious "sigma" doesn't automatically mean he's an ISTP. His love of punk culture (i.e. anti-authority, non-conformity, individualism) and obsession with performing music/living life according to those values is more of an Fi display than anything. Why he finally feels at home with Patty is their shared experience of "being on the fringe" (given they are both outsiders to their families), but now being able to celebrate punk and by extension, their individualism, with each other– instead of being shamed/ostracized for it (e.g. them reclaiming the phrase "take it down a notch"). This is an Fi love story.
