Mayu Watanabe MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Mayu Watanabe? Mayu Watanabe is an INTP personality type in MBTI, 9w8 - sp/sx - 953 in Enneagram, RCUAN in Big 5, SLI in Socionics.

Mayuyu has mentioned on several interviews that she had to kill her emotions when she was in AKB as a survival mechanism, because it was all too much for her to process, and she wouldn't have been able to stand if she didn't do so. 9s, in order to cope, numb themselves to avoid something that feels too large, complex, difficult, or uncomfortable to handle. 5s, on the other hand, would retreat first into isolation to protect themselves. "In my teens, I decided to give up on my mind. After this, I couldn't feel any emotion and became extremely calm. Even when members graduated, I didn't cry much. Now, I'm trying to restore my mind, but I've been doing this for so long, it's not working. I'm sad." Also, how is Mayuyu, someone who always had problems with ignoring and taking care of her health an sp-dom? She isn't sp-blind, considering she obviously demonstrates other forms of self-preservation, but based on her interactions with the members, she seems more so. Mayuyu tends to categorize people, is always highly aware of her and others' positions within a group, and does care about status, which are reasons why she had no trouble taking over as, acting, being called up to, and presenting herself as center. Despite being one of the youngest, she was the most aware as an idol and what was socially expected of her, staying true to the definition of her job for so long. Yukirin talked about how most try to follow Mayuyu's "Orthodox Idol" route, but it's actually the hardest. When Team B was just formed, and she saw how the latter imposed strict rules on herself of what to and not to do that'll make you think that's how an idol should be, she decided to take a different approach. At the same time, Mayuyu doesn't like when other people step out of those social lines, and she moves to mend the situation, fully knowing how it looks versus how it should, so she bears the burden of her ace responsibilities (ex. Her reactions over Takamina's dating scandal prank, Riripon's marriage announcement and Juri's commendable speech at the 2017 SSK). When acknowledging how ambitious she was when she was younger in comparison to the young members of the present, she said those juniors joined after AKB became popular, so they can't all be on the same page. One of Mayuyu's core defining traits as an idol was her strict moralism (so/sp), and she was even voted recently (edited 2022) in the theater as the strictest member in history. Additionally, her wide and almost anxious-like natural gaze coincides with how an so-dom's expression is described to be. Sx blindspot, I can see. Beyond never having liked anyone, Takamina said when she pushed the topic on Mayuyu when they ate out alone, the latter firmly said no for 30 minutes. She was also happy to get bad luck in love on the AKBingo! Lucky Girl rankings. Mayuyu just never seemed to be concerned with one-on-one connection.

Biography

Mayu Watanabe (渡辺 麻友, Watanabe Mayu, born March 26, 1994) is a former Japanese singer, actress, and icon of the Japanese girl group AKB48 as a third generation member. She was the face of Team B since its formation, and her selection for the 4th Major Single, "Bingo!" marked the team's debut in an AKB48 single. Among all the original aces of each generation, Watanabe and Minami Takahashi were the only two to ever feature as center on an AKB48 A-Side, and between them, the former alone kept the position as her generation's ace and eventually took the role of absolute center and next face of the entire 48 Group franchise. She is one of the group's famed "Kami 7" along with Atsuko Maeda, Yuko Oshima, Mariko Shinoda, Minami Takahashi, Haruna Kojima, and Tomomi Itano. She was also the center of AKB48 sub-unit, Watarirouka Hashiritai, alongside a solo career. Her agency, Production Ogi, announced her retirement from the entertainment industry on 1 June 2020.
