What personality type is Todd "Scratch" Mortenson? Todd "Scratch" Mortenson is an ISTP personality type in MBTI, 8w7 - sp/sx - 854 in Enneagram, RLUEN in Big 5, in Socionics.
I understand where the ESTP votes are coming from, but there’s no doubt that Scratch is ISTP. [Spoilers for the first season!!] First and foremost, his Se-Ni axis is prominent in the way he interacts with the rest of the cast. Molly has a problem, Scratch points out what is objectively happening in the situation via his Se, or his “what is” function. You’re stuck, “oh no, how sad”, end of story. His Ni, or his “what could be” function, finds the loopholes and ways to exploit the troubles of the rest of the cast and filters any irrelevant information out of the equation. This is also an explanation for Scratch’s realism and how it counters Molly’s optimism. Scratch, a Se user, takes things as they are and Molly, a Ne user, immediately thinks of the branching map of possibilities of the situation. On the flip side, I believe that Scratch’s Ti-Fe axis is placed dominant and inferior in his stack. This is mainly shown with his character development throughout the season, especially episodes one and three. In episode one, First Day Frights, we are shown Molly and an unconscious Andrea on the stage with Scratch pulling the curtain to reveal the whole student body looking at them. After a few seconds, Scratch’s inferior Fe shines through as he makes the quick decision to help Molly out after initially fueling the fire. In episode 3, The Greatest Concert Ever, Scratch helps Molly after initially making fun of the situation [again] by getting a band to preform, therefore sparing Molly the public humiliation. All of this would make his Ti first, which makes sense, as he is commonly showing it through his analyses and views on issues the cast faces throughout the series. Todd "Scratch" Mortenson, or also named Scratch McGee, is the titular deuteragonist from The Ghost and Molly McGee. He is a fussy, short-tempered, but funny and kind ghost who befriended Molly McGee when she arrives in Brighton.
