What personality type is Hugo? Hugo is an ISTJ personality type in MBTI, 6w5 - sp/so - 693 in Enneagram, in Big 5, in Socionics.
Hugo is a Si-dom through and through. Just the interaction he has with Penelope when she's making the paint for Rapunzel, "A dragon should be terrifying, feared by all who see him," "How dare you turn your back on our code of honor? For ages, a mighty dragon has stood for power, courage, and loyalty." Not to mention, his pragmatic loyalty to Gothel up until he learns that Rapunzel came back to the tower for Penelope so Gothel would not kill him. Much of why he has trouble understanding Penelope is because she's an ENFP and so their function stacks are reversed. She is very imaginative and enjoys exploring new ideas and concepts and is strongly in touch with her feelings, which he finds foolish and wasteful (inferior Ne). Hugo, on the other hand, is very pragmatic, logical, no-nonsense, and loyal (often to a fault like Rapunzel is; both of them are Si-doms). Furthermore, Hugo has no Fe. The only reason he is loyal to Gothel is out of pragmatism. While Rapunzel is loyal to Gothel both out of fear of her harming her friends and, in the beginning, a feeling that she should be grateful to Gothel for taking her in (Fe), Hugo is loyal to Gothel because he knows how powerful Gothel's magic is and that it would be impractical and reckless to openly defy or challenge her (Te). And his adherence to the dragon code and his decision to betray Gothel only after Penelope revealed that Rapunzel came back to the tower so Gothel would not kill him is definitely Fi. Hugo is a classic ISTJ.
