Alrighty folks, let’s clear the air shall we? First off- Miguel O’hara is indeed a INTJ within the comics; I’ve read quite a few comics ranging from Spider-Man 2099 Alpha to Spider-Man 2099 Exodus. Now- unlike the creators, I can’t say I know Miguel’s psyche. However, based on the film alone, it is clear Miguel depicts a typical ISTJ. All of his conclusions on the concept of “canon events” is purely based on situational experience; it is not a theory, hypothesis or inference. It is a sensory understanding and interpretation of one’s experience. Of course, INTJs are completely capable of forming such conclusions from their own experiences, but they would not shy away from investigating other possibilities. Miguel in Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse does not even consider the possibility that a “canon event” can be altered or perhaps bent in terms of minor temporal displacements. Continuing on this point, recently voters have stated that Miguel is an INTJ based on Ni+1w9 as he created the law of the “canon event”. Sure, he exhibits an inquisitive mind in this regards, as he conceptualised his failure. However, everyone has Ni, but this does not mean it is dominant for Miguel. In fact, wouldn’t anyone investigate why a multi-verse would collapse if it seems as a direct consequence to one’s self? Or at least question why it has occurred. Now- for people to argue that Miguel’s conceptualisation of his failures is a result of his Ni would be denying the human trait that is innate within us all: compartmentalism. We humans have a need to understand and categorise events and experiences. For Miguel, his failure is purely a desire to understand his own experience rather than curiosity on a future spectrum; hence, this exhibits the Si function of an ISTJ. Si seems to be the cognitive function that Miguel uses exhaustively regardless of his mental state, which emphasises his characterisation as a ISTJ. I mean come on guys- unfortunately, ISTJs are known to be by ‘the book’; they never stray or falter in terms of structure. I mean Miguel even treats his role as ‘Spider-Man’ on the verge of a chore: “that’s the job. That’s what you signed up for.” It seems here that Miguel is content with allowing his role to remain scripted… seriously? Lack of free-will is something an INTJ will continue to explore and attempt to disprove. Sure, an INTJ can remain in a routine (or a script as you will) without wavering, but we don’t disregard the idea we created this routine ourselves- path our own freedom and Miguel lacks his scientific mind in this movie. He is no longer explorative or exhibits characteristics of a theorist. Now- don’t even start to say, “oh, well he is emotionally impacted due to the loss of his ‘family’ from another multi-verse.” Like seriously? What INTJ does not consider the consequences of being an imposture? Literally, this emotional plot insertion is unorthodox in terms of Spider-Man 2099, who is analytical and curious. But no- Miguel feels compelled to fill the absent gender role of a ‘father’. Does it get more conventional than that? If you were to recreate Miguel’s characterisation in this movie, I feel it would be appropriate for him to explore the boundaries of “canon events” under the guise that he is harmonising them. Miguel lacks his curious edge and openness in terms of possibilities, which I believe are reasonably innate within INTJs Sigh- now lastly. FOR GOD’S SAKE NOT EVERY VILLAIN IS AN INTJ! I mean guys, can we please stop characterising them in such way? You must first analyse the character, circumstances and overall plot and it’s potential motives. If you really want further analysis then look into the cognitive stacks for ISTJ vs INTJ- there it will be made apparent that Miguel is, in fact, an ISTJ.
Biography
Miguel was initially shown to have a very sarcastic attitude. He also spoke coolly about things, even when Lyla tells him that his multiverse-hopping device could kill him. He also displays a hyperactive personality that doesn't think of anything before acting sometimes getting carried away when someone insults him or something similar. Miguel also proved to be someone excited in the realm of science, creating the Gizmo and the Spider-Society initially to defend the multiverse from any threat. Miguel is a perfectionist, always looking for order and structure, and maintaining stability within the multiverse. He envisions his morals and leads the Spider Society. After his failure to prevent the destruction of an alternate dimension, Miguel was left emotionally scarred by the event, becoming an overworked leader of the Spider-Society that tried to make sure that all canon events of the different universes occurred at all cost.
