i don’t know what i was on when i first typed him here, but, now that my brain’s working, i see a whole lot of so4 in the way he would relate himself (and ryusuke) to broken, discarded things when they were younger. he was always searching for more in that 4-ish way. he took comfort in being “the outsider,” but he also had that humanitarian side to him that some so4s do, which is further fueled by the idealism from his 1 and 7 fixes. naranjo mentioned the love of art as being the primary form of transpersonal love for e4s. given beck is about the mystique, authenticity, and power of music, it’s fitting that the main characters (koyuki, ray) and the one they look up to (eddie) are all 4s! in beck, eddie served a more functional purpose in the narrative (the idol, the icon, etc.), so it’s hard to see him for who he was as a person rather than what he represented to people. still, reading the bonus story focused on him really helped me peep into his mind—even if just a little bit more. i feel comfortable in how i’ve typed him now!
