I see him as Enneagram 5. Five's point of stress/unhealthiness is toward overindulgence. Hording, avarice, the careful secretive collecting of knowledge as power. The way he masters each specific thing, be it delicate wood carving, or being a tasteful gourmand. These seem 5ish. He is stiff and utterly self-controlled, unlike 3s who tend to manipulate through charm and charisma. He has no charm or charisma, just a brilliant scheming chess-like detailed approach to power. Unlike 3s, he doesn't morph himself into an idealized version that others will admire. He doesn't seek to shine as the star in people's eyes. His motivation is to avoid the feeling of powerlessness through hording power and knowledge, through mastery and through self control, which is the core motivation of a 5. Nothing escapes his sharp and laser-like precise observation. Everything and everyone is a detailed mechanism to be controlled. He seeks to shore up and horde power through the precise collecting of knowledge which he keeps carefully to himself. Does he have 3 (and 8) in his tritype? Yes, for sure.
