(spoilers) the way he uses his si and fi is really interesting to me, as both functions make up a large part of his character and impact a lot of his decisions and dialogue (mainly in books 2/4/5). he clung onto the idea that xie lian and feng xin hated him for centuries after everything that happened in book 4, and i'm really glad they got that resolved in the end :')). also the way he shows his enneagram 3 is interesting, as it's not in the stereotypical "workaholic" way but more in the "I want to present myself in the best way possible" kind of way. i think its more obvious around book 2 where he was afraid he would be judged due to his background ("Yet, the more awed he was, the more careful he became, and the more he didn't dare to have others sense what he was feeling, didn't dare take a wrong step.") and he didn't wanna be pitied or looked down upon just because he came from a poor background
