He was all about reforms and improvement of the country, the vast majority in order to support indirectly the defense from invaders, but not only. He took many excessively harsh measures in order to hurry that process or make it more efficient. Te dominant over Ni. Edit: It's hard to distinguish what's legend and slander by his enemies from what's truth, few writings have remained from his time, the rest of what's being said about him & his actions, even in most "documentaries", comes from folk legends put on paper centuries later and presented as "facts". What can be gathered about his personality from his politics, his few remaining letters and what his contemporaries wrote about him is: - He was EXTREMELY CALCULATED. It's certain he hated the Ottomans with a passion; he came to the throne in early 1456, he immediately started military preparations, reorganising the army, building fortifications, strengthening the economy to better sustain war on the long run, making & reinforcing alliances with the neighbours, helping his friend Stephen the Great get Moldavia's throne etc., for the future war with the Ottomans whom he ONLY PROVOKED IN LATE 1461, only after he was reassured of immediate hungarian & papal help. (which never came.)
