To me, she fits ESFP far more than ISFP or ENFP. Her behavior consistently reflects strong Se–Fi patterns in an externalized, socially aware way. She’s confident in her charm — often assuming no man could resist her (such as her assumptions about Dalton) — and tends to interpret situations through the lens of how others perceive her. It’s not deep introspection, but a present-focused awareness of image and reaction. Miss Lance clearly cares about how she’s perceived. For example, in chapter 24, she stops gossiping about Laura — not out of guilt, but because she’s worried about how Mr. Fairfax, who writes to Mr. Dalton, might portray her. This is image management, not emotional accountability. Another telling moment occurs in chapters 11–12, when Mr. Dalton is driving her and her friends. One of her friends is about to insult Laura’s background, and Lance immediately shuts her down. But it doesn’t feel like loyalty or defense — rather, she likely didn’t want Dalton to think poorly of her for tolerating gossip. She doesn’t show the introspection, idealism, or emotional transparency you’d expect from Fi-doms like ISFPs. Nor does she display the curiosity or pattern-seeking of Ne-doms like ENFPs. Her actions are bold, reactive, and socially calculated — guided by how things appear more than by internal reflection. She enjoys attention, adjusts her behavior to maintain social favor, and focuses on making the “right impression.” All of this strongly aligns with ESFP, far more than ISFP or ENFP.
