hi! so most people seem to him him sp2 but I’ve seen people on pdb type Charles Boyle as sp6 and some people on typologytok type him so9 so as someone who sees him as a very clear example of an sp2 and who has literally been obsessed with Brooklyn 99 since 2018 and has seen it 8 times I wanted to make an argument attempting to debunk this. also forewarning: this is 4575 words so 😭 my full typing of him is ese sp269 fevl and I’m not exactly a socionics expert so I won’t touch on ese for now but I may write a separate argument for fevl Boyle later on :) why I type him sp2: for core 2 the passion is pride which is defined as: “Twos have a passion for pride, and because of this, feel wonderful and generous. They live in the most absolute abundance and feel above everyone and everything. The problem of this passion is that they feel omnipotent and do not know how to ask for things for themselves. They think they know what everyone needs and end up being very invasive.” and the e2 fixation is false abundance which is defined as: “The cognitive support to Pride, constitutes the belief that the E2 inherently has a lot of love and needs to give it to others to become indispensable and central in the lives' of others” while Charles did say he has no pride, I do not feel he means this in the way pride is used in the enneagram. Charles is an incredibly invasive person, particularly when it comes to Jake and Amy’s relationship. he constantly inserts himself into relationship matters that have nothing to do with him and gets unfairly offended when excluded. like before they were dating when we was insistent they would, to in the early stages like in ‘Johnny and Dora’ when he got excessively excited that they kissed while undercover, when they were not telling anyone they were dating and Jake lied about having a date with someone else and Charles was upset and disappointed in him and revealed he had already written his best man speech, all throughout their relationship to their marriage when he passed out of excitement after the proposal and posted a wedding announcement in the paper (which led to the bomber finding out the venue & date), and when they decided to have a baby but didn’t tell Charles because he was too intense which led to him being angry and upset with Jake. this is also very much tied to the e2 fixation too with his need to be 100% involved in Jake and Amy’s relationship. “Hey, guys. I just discovered a new drug too. It's called "your relationship," and I'm high on it.” “I think it’s amazing. Jake and Amy and baby makes 3. I don’t know if I believe in god but I have prayed for this.’ “Jake and Amy are getting married tonight! Title of my sex tape!” “Picking up Cagney and Lacey - one taste of practice parenting, and you two will be so hot to have sex. The kind that make babies.” “Get pregnant. Use your body to give the world more Jake.” “Fine. Enjoy your weird anniversary with just the couple, you seIfish j3rks." for the first part of that quote, the feeling above others. people may argue this doesn’t fit Charles but he does actually have a rather inflated ego, it’s just somewhat camouflaged most of the time. where it shows most is that he fully believes that he’s far more attractive than Terry and that everyone agrees with this, scoffing when Terry says he’s more attractive as if it was obviously Charles. in general, he’s he’s just very confident in his appearance most of the time. it is also tied to what I mentioned above that he believes he’s entitled to details and involvement with Jake and Amy’s relationship. Gina - “Great but what’s his body on a scale from Charles to Terry?” Charles - “Sorry buddy” Terry - “What? I’m clearly the 10.” Charles - “Sure you are.” Terry - “Do I look like a man who snacks?” Charles - “You look like eight circles with suspenders on.” Charles - “Eyes up here, Gina. I'm more than just a piece of a$$.” Charles - “Sexy train is leaving the station, check out this caboose!” another quote for their fixation: “The Two is NOT the helper that other views of the Enneagram describe. Twos have a passion for their pride and this is fixed in their character through false generosity. This means that while they give, they unconsciously expect something in return. Therefore, they are not altruistic or truly generous. To get what they want, they use seduction and manipulation” (a specifically sp2 quote about this is: “The underlying theme of the conservation E2 is that he doesn't feel valuable enough or worthy of being loved. So he does things for others, seeking to be needed, because he assumes he won't be abandoned and the other will return protection”) part 1 (appologies for the censorship, pdb doesn’t let you say ‘a$$’)

Biografie

A bumbling, awkward and eager-to-please detective in the unit with a tendency to say perverse things without intending to. Although clumsy and prone to accidents, he is a hard worker and succeeds through his willingness to 'grind' through his cases. He is good friends with and extremely supportive of Peralta. A 'foodie', he takes anything to do with cuisine deadly seriously.
