His driving factor is literally the desire to be loved, admired, and accepted by everyone—his father, Lucilla, the people of Rome. His Fe manifests in the fact that he is extremely sensitive to the way others view him. Hence, his need to prove himself as a strong and capable leader (one of the main reasons he chooses to fight Maximus at the end of the film). If he were an Fi dom, Commodus wouldn’t feel the need to perfect/maintain his public image or be so concerned with how people perceive him. The very fact that he hosts expensive and elaborate gladiator games because he wants the people to adore him is a testament to his Fe. In terms of leadership, he believes he is doing something for the good of the empire, and he believes the senate is corrupt, selfish, and ultimately not sensitive to the needs of the people. Commodus is clearly delusional, and his Fe enables him to believe he is doing things for the collective good while also seeing certain individuals as expendable (Maximus, his father, etc.) I think people mistake him for being an Fi dom because they are under the assumption that Fe users are incapable of doing anything selfish or to the detriment of others.
Biografie
The insane son of Marcus Aurelius and the new emperor of the Roman Empire after he killed his father. He has Maximus' family killed for refusing to serve him, causing Maximus' quest for vengeance. —————————————————————————— “You wrote to me once, listing the 4 chief virtues: wisdom, justice, fortitude, and temperance. As I read the list I knew I had none of them. But I have other virtues, father: ambition - that can be a virtue when it drives us to excel - resourcefulness, courage - perhaps not on the battlefield but there are many forms of courage - devotion, to my family, to you. But none of my virtues where on your list. Even then it was as if you didn’t want me for your son. I searched the faces of the gods for ways to please you, to make you proud. One kind word, one full hug, where you pressed me to your chest and held me tight would have been like the sun on my heart for 1000 years. What is it in me you hate so much? All I’ve ever wanted was to live up to you, Caesar, father.”
