I remember initially hearing about his death without the proper context or scope of the early black metal scene in Norway and empathizing heavily with what happened to him. It's still truly awful that he was murdered in his mid-20s but the more you read into the kind of person he was, the image he tried to project, how he treated the people around him, and the environment he cultivated, it becomes really difficult for me to muster any sort of emotion over his death. Responding to your bandmate's suicide by photographing it to project an image that you really have zero integrity to uphold is quite possibly the most loser thing I can think of. I'm not trying to say he had anything coming to him, but when you're the figurehead of the emerging black metal scene and foster a community of clearly unstable people and treat them like they're all below you while you weakly project an image of extreme satanism, I'm not really sure what you expected.
