His Enneagram is 7w8, and it’s very apparent throughout the play, and even in his death. Sevens are part of the Head triad, making him concerned with security in their experiences. Sevens have a very interesting way of finding security, their core motivation is to be secure in their happiness and freedom and their core fear is being in situations that cause them harm or missing out/being deprived of things. Mercutio shows time and time again that his main goal is to have fun. He is very impulsive and that causes his death. His getting into the fight with Tybalt was because he was angry at Tybalt for insulting Romeo and wanted the good experience of beating Tybalt in a fight. This ended with Mercutio dying and we can see him cursing both their families, he hates that he died in their feud because he feels it wasn’t his choice, and he wants freedom, he was swept along in something that does not even need him and this is the result. You can also see how he has an Eight wing with his death. Eights’ core motivation is to be in control of themselves and the world around them, to an extent, that is how they feel secure. Their core fear is being controlled. It is easy to see how Mercutio’s hatred for not being in control of when he dies is a large part of why he is angry. Since Eight is in the Gut Triad, and the Gut Triad reacts in anger when their fear makes itself known, him lashing out and cursing both the Capulets and the Montagues makes sense. Mercutio follows what will lead him to the most happiness and freedom, and like Romeo, his motivation leads him to his death.
