since theres no argument about why hes typed this way, i'll try to explain. i still have to read the manga though, so who knows. i think he's an ISFP because well, he shows really clear Fi. he's never cared about the council of elders, he always opposed them in order to perpetrate the Moles' rebellious ideals, despite being put in prison so many times because of this. he's always stayed true to himself not really caring about the Whale's social harmony; during his life he constantly dreamt about breaking free and finally exploring the unseen world, regardless of how others felt about it. he only really empathized with and got close to those who had the same beliefs as him, and nothing could really influence them; just like nothing could influence his love and trust towards the latters. of course he collaborated with the Elders, but only when everyone was facing a really stressful and deadly situation. not to mention he did so while staying true to himself and because he felt like it was the right thing to do according to his morals and his subtle care about the Whale and its people. i dont think i need to elaborate any further, if you think about it there's a lot of examples for his Fi and i believe its the function he uses more. his Se is also really obvious and it works in power of his Fi. hes always seeking new experiences, knowledge and things to see, which is another reason why he wants to explore the outer world. he lives in the moment and he's quick at reacting and noticing details in the environment and in what's going on around him compared to everyone else, in fact he saved others from possible death in so many occasions. (dont argue by saying he uses Si since he's attached to the past only because he thinks about his dead friends, ofc even a Se user would be traumatized by their friends dying one after the other. everyone cares about their loved ones, and this is not what functions are about). i dont have full examples on why he uses Ni/Te as i've only watched the anime, but i'll update my opinion when i continue the manga. they're harder to notice for now, and it would make sense since they're supposed to be his tertiary and inferior functions. also, i can't really see Ne or Ti at all and I believe he uses Fi/Se a lot for said reasons, which means he's ISFP. On to his enneagram, the Truth Teller tritype (864) makes sense. an overview of it: brutally honest and emotionally turbulent, this can be an intimidating type to deal with. regardless of what may be going on around them, you can bet that they have an opinion and few reservations about expressing it. they are rebellious and distrustful of “the system.” at the same time, they have a high degree of loyalty and responsibility to causes, particularly those which affect or resonate with them personally. they are often champions of the underdog in a big way. they can have a reputation for being rude or dramatic, but without such individuals, society would fall into mechanical complacency. if their core is 8, it is essential for this sort of 8 to have a trusted confidant, despite their preference for absolute independence. they need to learn that accepting help is not surrender - it is their first line of defense against being defeated by their own intense emotions. i believe it fits him well, and the core fears and personality traits of each type does as well. especially as an 8 he's scared of being commanded by others, of not being able to control his environment. his desire is to be in control of his life and destiny. the 8 as his core is undeniable, since his character revolves around being in control of himself, of his environment and the way he lives. he actively works to achieve that and isnt scared of swimming against the tide. he suppresses his negative feelings in order to not be seen as weak and to protect his fellows. the most clear example of this is when Nibi told him he wished he could be as strong as him since hes never seen him cry. ouni always bottled up his emotions to overcome them even though he was clearly upset sometimes. sounds like 8, doesnt it? not to mention when 8 is in growth it is all for the underdogs, and ouni even is one himself. i see 7 as his wing because 8w7s are aimed at freedom, they are more vocal and opinionated in mantaining that freedom since they think being more assertive and fighting is the only way to create the peace and control they're searching for. meanwhile 8w9s are more aware and needy of harmony and want everyone to feel at ease. i dont think thats ouni's priority. i see him as an sx/sp because as one he has a personal outlook and he doesnt search for social consensus, he acts as if he wants to protect himself and his emotions with a safe barrier/shell (sp), but he also has an all-or-nothing type of investment into something (his beliefs and the freedom he seeks). i am running out of characters to write about why i can see him as choleric-melancholic, but i think its pretty obvious.
