tomoko has gotta be one of the most Fi doms of all time. i also appreciate her character because it's a good example of how being an INFP doesn't mean that you're sensitive in the way of being whimsical soft-hearted dreamy and tender. INFPs can also be sensitive in the way of internal turmoil driven by delusion, assuming that the force of their impressions/feelings means that they are the reality of the situation, and manically coming up with ways to deal with that. sorry i dont mean to do INFPs dirty, i love tomoko because she's such a real character 😭 but yeah, the whole series is basically driven by her being a Fi dom. it's about her subjective internal world - ie her thoughts feelings projections relationships hopes and fears etc. that is the lens that she perceives the world through. she can't compromise on who she is to better fit in, even though she wants to be less alone so badly. you can see the aux Ne in the way that then the rest of the plot comes from the various ways she tries to deal with it. and by the way, just "caring about what people think of you" has actually nothing to do with Fe. it's more about neurosis than functions imo... any type can struggle with that. but the way that they deal with it is what reflects their type. one of the ways that tomoko deals with it that reflects her type is that one of the main recurring reactions she has to her social anxiety/awkwardness/rejection is to feel both self-loathing and also loathing the people around her at the same time - so basically instead of what other types do which could be to rationalise it or throw different approaches at it or imitate other people, she is absorbed with her feelings about it (Fi). she then creates different scenarios in her mind (Ne) based on the internal data of the experiences she has had (Si), and then takes action based on it upon the world because that's what seems to be the correct course of action to her (Te). so while (to me) she is clearly most likely an INFP, that doesn't mean she's a healthy one. she starts as a character very wrapped up in her own world with criteria of success (Te) that isn't actually connected to anything besides what she cares about - the otome games. her character development sees her becoming a more healthy person who can cooperate with people, see things from their point of view, and stay a little more connected to what's going on outside her head. :)
