Soviet or Council Democracy is a type of democracy within Marxist thought which achieves its goals of Democratic participation through directly elected Soviet councils. In theory it provided the basis for the creation of the Soviet republics in Eastern Europe and Eurasia although many may see such totalitarian interpretations as a perversion.
