From the episode "Vardavar!" of Mickey Mouse Funhouse (S3 E22), the character of Astghik was inspired by the pagan Armenian goddess of water, beauty, love, and fertility. The episode revolves around the ancient festival Vardavar (Վարդավառ), which was originally dedicated to the goddess, and is celebrated by throwing water at people. Astghik made history on March 1, 2024 by becoming the first official Armenian character and representation of Armenian history and culture from Disney.
