André Haidar Midani (Damascus, Syria, September 25, 1932 - Rio de Janeiro, June 14, 2019) was a professional in the Brazilian phonographic market considered one of the most important names in the Brazilian phonographic industry from the 60s to the 90s. Born in Syria, he moved to France at the age of three. He worked in Brazil, Latin America and New York City, United States. Midani got in touch with bossa nova through photographer Chico Pereira, who introduced him to Carlos Lyra, Roberto Menescal, Nara Leão, Ronaldo Bôscoli and Oscar Castro Neves, among others. João Gilberto was introduced to him by Dorival Caymmi. When he joined the company, he had a cast of 155 artists, which was soon reduced to 50, with the main stars of the label being kept, such as Elis Regina, Tom Jobim Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, Os Mutantes, Edu Lobo, Ronnie Von, among others.
