I just re-watched the first movie and seeing how he reacted after being rejected by Ian Hawke and told his music was horrible seemed far more FiSe aligned (stole cookies and ran from the office, threw all of the instruments out of his house, left them in the rain, etc.) He also destroyed all his shelves trying to catch down Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, completely turning over his entire kitchen. In that moment all he could do was try to chase them down (Se) and prove to himself that he wasn’t hearing or seeing things. Later he was all too calm/accommodating after waking up to his house in complete disarray due to them making breakfast. Instead he just civilly tried to explain to them why they didn’t need to “store food away” for the wintertime. I believe an Si dom would have reacted completely different to this situation due to their main preference for cleanliness and structure. He wouldn’t have been able to endure having the Chipmunks stay because of them messing up his home, however, the true reason he nearly kicked them out was due to him feeling his whole identity/life was being uprooted (Fi dom). He panicked at the mention of Theodore believing they were a “family” and tried to keep things strictly friendly between them all, however it was to no avail. He often impulsively took actions (such as when he wrote them a goodbye note and forgot to store it away, or when she shouted at them to go to Ian’s if they cared for him more) after being swept up entirely in his emotions due to his FiSe. He only let the Chipmunks stay initially because he recognized they could be useful for his desires of being a prominent songwriter, but unfortunately due to his FiSe desire prove himself to Ian he impulsively took them to his office far too early (not taking into account their feelings) and it didn’t work out. I think the reason he appears to be “too much” or “too strict” on Alvin in the sequels is not because of Si but Se. He often goes a bit overboard with his anger and tries to get Alvin to conform to his own Fi desires/plans. Rather than remaining structured in real life, he comes off as slightly crazy due to his intense focus on just the Chipmunks and can end up sprinting all over the place, yelling loudly, etc. This seems far more Se like to me than Si. He’s way too honest and authentic with others, never trying to hold back such as with Claire when he talks about the Chipmunks and with the lady in the Supermarket.
