While on the subject of punishing errors, reversal characters are fantastic for this approach. They fight primarily by waiting to counter an opponent's attacks or surprising enemies during recoveries when they are attacked. So, rushdown and glass cannon players taking on a reversal character can end up getting caught in some nasty throws or parries. Unlike Bait & Punish, they typically have strong defensive options. Reversals are pretty much common in fighting games, so not every character with a reversal counts (e.g. Tekken's Paul Phoenix has one, but is more of a rushdown character). What separates these characters is that they make them the priority of their fighting style. Like Aoi Umenokouji from Virtua Fighter and Geese Howard from the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters games. Other examples include Enkidu from Under Night In-Birth and Hakumen from the Blazblue series.
