Simple proof: The first "date" scene. He stumbles through the entire thing, without a clue of what to say. Pretty obvious Ne PoLR. ESFP wouldn't have tanked nearly as badly. Edit after finishing the movie: I'm completely certain that he's ISFP over ESFP -- his Fi is absolutely the core of his character (he's consistently caring, thoughtful, and loyal with a desire to deeply understand those he cares about). His Se simply takes a backseat to it. A moment that stood out to me as being particularly indicative of Fi dominance was when Ellie's father spoke to him in Mandarin, and instead of breaking the moment and being all, "Dude, I don't know what you're saying," as I would suspect a Se dom would be more likely to do, he simply listened even though he couldn't understand, and treated the moment with gravity and respect. Additionally, his Ne PoLR never changes even with Ellie's help. It's basically treated as his biggest flaw: even though he wants to be on Aster's level intellectually in order to impress her, he will always fail at keeping up with her conversationally no matter how much he tries to cram things into his brain. He cannot improvise in conversation.
