𝐣𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐲 - 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐣 𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 because of how absolutely awful x3 is it is very hard to decipher whether or not jean and the phoenix are the same, if she has some sort of dissociative disorder (she is def dissociative but i mean did or osdd etc) and they are different, or any other thing that may help with deciding if the influence of the phoenix on her character in x3 should be considered. because of that, i am writing this argument as if that movie doesnt exist except for the parts where jean is very explicitly jean and not being controlled/possessed/not there because that movie is stupid and she barely has any character to begin with but i love her so i am writing this. TLDR, i am not considering any of what could be considered "the phoenix"'s actions in this argument because to me they are very clearly separate but other people may disagree. jean, despite her lack of character in these movies, is portrayed as the heart of the x-men and is a nurturing and caring figure to those around her because of her need for stability and safety of herself and others. she is hyper aware of her surroundings and is a nurse/scientist, and although she is telepathic she does not need these powers to be able to understand and read others well. you may be thinking, doesnt that mean she should be an Fe dom? but this is her Ni that leads her to being so caring and understanding, as it stems from her personal subconscious thoughts and what she believes people need rather then social values or prioritizing these relationships. in fact, she seemingly struggles to form actual close and deep relationships with anyone other than scott, because she is constantly in her own head and subconsciously detached from reality. Ni is often said to come naturally and be hard to explain to others, because it is a subconscious understanding and does not happen manually, but rather with the use of inferior Se. Jean is constantly soaking up the information provided by her surroundings and is hyper aware because of her inferior Se which leaves her in her head so often that she is subconsciously anxious and picking up on almost everything, which leads back to her dominant Ni. Jean is a caring and understanding individual, but she does not lead with Fe. her tert Ti is also proof of this, as when she is faced with a problem she cannot use her Ni for, she resorts to using her own logic, often recklessly, seen in the final part of X2 when she does something that would be much more expected of someone like logan, who is a Ti dom (brazenly sacrificing herself without telling anyone what she is doing). (comic wolverine may be an ESTP but foxverse logan is def not). as for X3....... jean is not very present in this movie but the few times she is, she is scared and confused because she no longer has any internal "record" to go off of because she can no longer be in her head and is thrust into a very physical issue, which she struggles to cope with because of her inferior Se. i dont really have a lot of thoughts for X3 because i dont want to think about that movie anymore than i have to and she barely exists there anyway so this paragraph is short all in all, jean is a very underwhelming character in the x-men trilogy because the writers cant write women or something idk. but with the little character to go off of to me it is clear even still she is an INFJ so/sp 6.
