He characterises pretty well how some religious movements proclaiming their "faith" and irrationality operate. Their believers are proud of their "spirituality" precisely because they are spiritless: they can see nothing but sexual desires so they say poetry are just representations of sexual desires; they can see nothing but technical ends so they say that mathematics can serve only technical ends. Finally they arrogantly hail themselves as the representative of "spirituality" and denounce people who actually have a more liberated mind than themselves do (for instance, those poets and mathematicians), as "belonging to the earth" and "belonging to only human". But since they do not actually have a clear view of spirituality the latter represents to themselves as a mere negative force depriving their power of judgement. They rejected deliberation, but unfortunately they cannot reject judging altogether since as long as they are experiencing the world they are positing and judging. And when deliberation is removed (since it "belongs to human") what remains is actually sheer bestiality that spreads enmity everywhere. It seems that they have haunted a great many modern people who are not satisfied with the mainstream, technical world view today.
