I think he uses more Ne than Se. He was extremely idealistic and always pondering about means to improve society, create a better world and such stuff. He isn‘t very realistic about this and totally heads in the clouds. Se users are generally way more grounded and practical. Furthermore he is someone, who easily picks up ideas of people around him and often changing those ideas and concepts, rather than focusing on a single goal and sticking to it. This seems very much like Ne to me.
