Tales from the Neverending Story is a 2001–2002 Canadian live-action television series loosely based on Michael Ende’s 1979 novel The Neverending Story. Produced in Montreal, Quebec, and distributed by Muse Entertainment, it aired on HBO in the U.S. and as a 13‑episode UK series. The story follows Bastian Balthazar Bux, a 12‑year‑old boy who has lost his childhood imagination after his mother’s death. While browsing in Coreander’s Curiosities, he discovers The Neverending Story, a magical book that transports him into the world of Fantasia. There, he becomes entangled in the tale of Atreyu, a boy tasked by the dying Childlike Empress to save Fantasia from the dark forces of Xayide the Dark Princess.
