Attachment theory is a psychological, evolutionary, and behavioral theory of relationships between human individuals. The overriding principle is that children need a relationship with at least one primary caregiver to facilitate normal social and emotional development. This theory was proposed by psychiatrist and psychoanalyst John Bobby.
