I think he's a 3 core > 4 core. His neurosis seems more attachmebt orientated than anything else. He compensates for his internal feelings of defiency through feigned glamourisation of himself, visible through his persona and hero identity. He indulges in his veil of fulfilled opulance through his exterior and hobbies because he finds value worth through that material existance, it makes up for the inadequacy he feels internally. He doesn't fetishize his suffering as a 4 core would. Of course 4's are tormented by their alienation, but they cling to it as the torment because its own comfort, creating a self-fulfilling narrative of defeciency. Aoyama feels captive to his suffering outwith hinself; it's not defined by internal perpetuation. 4's core fear is being without a meaningful existance. They seek to be metaphysically alienated in some capacity from others. They operate with a covertly narcissitic belief that they're signifigant for being different, despite their position as somebody inhuman being one they activrlry craft themselves. Aoyama isn't a core 4 because he feels different. He feels captive to his circumstances and takes zero pride in his position. He wants to fit in and thrive amongst others, idealising vanity because he feels that if he's eccentric he can create an ideal that aligns him with others that aren't withheld as he is. It's important to note that ALL heart types have some feeling of internal deficiency. It's the core of the triad – seeking external recognition of their image to redress their compromsied self-image. Aoyama fits 3's core fear > 4's core fear.
