Suzaku is a messy inconsistent character. I can see where the ISxJ votes came from. Every argument I've seen for him being ISTJ can be attributed to being Type 1 and they all overlook the fact that Suzaku's main goal is to change the order, not maintain it. 1) He killed (although impulsively) his father after finding out that he and the Emperor of Japan were going to side with Britannia and allow the killing of anti-occupation Japanese civilians and officials. He proceeds to become an honorary Britannian, his excuse being he's going to cause change from the inside. 2) He wants things to change through peace, but becomes a soldier. Essentially doing exactly what his father planned, but focusing only on the Japanese that put up resistance. How exactly does he think the Japanese being compliant will bring them peace when it has only gotten them slaughtered? Several times it was even going to get him killed and he's on Britannia's side, and he did nothing to warrant it. 3) He is a bad soldier. He doesn't care about maintaining Britannian order, but justice and because of that when he's faced with anyone innocent or that's a civilian he attempts to get out of it. This goes back to point 2; he's attempting change from the inside to bring about peace. 4) He rejects to work alongside Zero simply because he thinks resisting is wrong and will cause pointless death. ...He is working for the side causing the pointless deaths. This is where he tries to uphold "order" and he's a hypocrite for it; he's like this because he impulsively killed his father, he's compensating for it. 5) His idealistic version of peace can only be achieved through people like Euphemia and Nannally; there's no way he could have done it on his own. And because he keeps maintaining order, he doesn't change any of the higher up's mind about why it's bad to slaughter helpless people or why being called 11s would make the Japanese resist. He's nothing but complacent. This is one of the biggest flaws of the series. 6)The only thing he did himself was bring Lelouch to the emporer, and he didn't do that for Britannia; it was for revenge. Everything revolves around Suzaku's own values and he's taking advantage of the existing system to do it. The system is only right because it's already in place. He could have brought about change by doing something with that honorary Britannian system. The Japanese obviously wanted to remain Japanese out of a sense of pride AND the only benefit they actually get from being honorary Britannians is being able to walk about and get a job. They were still treated poorly. He has the exact identity needed to make change happen, and yet all the big moves and deciding factors are made by Britannians. Him being Japanese is essentially a useless plot device because it achieves nothing but make him a traitor.
