I don't know how closely the drama will follow the novel, but novel Sa Eon is likely not Fi inferior, although he seems cold and executive. Throughout the story, he tries to balance his big responsibilities and his own small desires, which he is always aware of (what is truly important to him) but is afraid to act upon those things because it would ruin things for people and himself. But if given the permission of the circumstances, he'd want to be free to pursue. He wants freedom and to escape his chains and leashes, but he needs to wait for the right timing when he gathers enough information even if it may take many years. He waits and observes. Say hi to Ni. Despite not liking his circumstances, he has inertia and path dependency. It is not easy for him to simply jump out of a situation and run away. He continues to do what he built himself up to do over the years until he hits a dead end. Even after escaping a bad family and career situation, he pursues another career that poses a similar threat to himself, because negotiation is what he's good at and that gives him certainty. VERY prominent Ni and a sign of cognitive introversion - sticking to a system that's already been built. He could've tried to venture out and try something new, experiment on new skills, but no, he just continues along the same trajectory. He is not motivated by ambition to get more things, power is a means for him to create a leeway for his private life, to do some of what he wants to do. He follows the game rules to acquire power, but hides his beloved wife inside a bubble so he can take all the external damage, doesn't ask for her to be involved in the politics, even though everyone else in the family expects her to. He also does not pursue Hee Joo even though they are married, because it is a political marriage and he does not want to take advantage of the situation and have their relationship tainted by the political nature. He loves her in the shadows and only makes a move on her when she shows signs of loving him back. Basically he tries really hard to balance his Te and Fi. All this might not make sense yet given that the drama is only halfway through, but hopefully this analysis stands the test of time.
