Eckles is my only favourite in VADTD, also manhwas and novels in general. Yes, I've read the novel. Shoutout to my one and only grey-brown eyed princess, goodest boy ever. <3 With that prefaced, I'm profoundly well-versed with him but not MBTI itself but I'll try my best to explain why he's an ISFP. I'll tag spoilers wherever they are. Eckles is shown to be taciturn from the beginning, saying little and 'doing' more. He's described as unreadable, his face often referred as a doll's, aesthetically and symbolically. His physical strength is his *overt* quality, something he himself shows off. Starting from the hyena scene to him weaving a flower wreath, then noticing anyone approaching him within certain radius—he is heavily attuned with his surroundings. His external reality is *almost* everything to him (that he cannot control) given his current circumstance (a slave). This attributes to his Se, making it a key function more than Si. Because we can see how Eckles' dominant Fi plays into his Se. His external reality is ALMOST everything to him but not quite, (not only because of his circumstances while he interacts with Penelope) but also because of his core values, emotions involving the fall of his own country. He harbors valid resentment, overall turbulent emotions that I can write pages about but won't here. But yeah, his Fi completely influences all his other functions. His Fi-dom doesn't stop just there, though. *SPOILERS* *SPOILERS* He has an indescribable void inside that he uses Penelope as a proxy to fulfill, a lack of love and more that he never received from his childhood, an emptiness that he tries to fill that pushes his obsession with her. He was materially (not emotionally) spoiled from childhood given his prince status, until that was stripped away from him. Hence, he doesn't find Penelope's frequent gift-giving as anything grand, it's just a means for him to see her more. He yearns for love. In these ways he prioritizes himself and his own survival, tying to his Fi-Se, also pointing towards his mood swings. *END OF SPOILERS* As for his Ni, he's mentally fast, his pattern/type of thinking stems from longevity. His ambitions do drive him more. He's not an experimental type, neither does he humour anything that doesn't serve his Fi. So he's very internally imaginative, as he's often visualizing stuff about Penelope or what he aims to do in the long run as her knight/to prove his self-worth to her/to establish himself. Even him visualizing about Penelope is a covert way of him trying to erase the emotional neglect and trauma he's faced in his life. Finally, his inferior Te shows with how poorly he tries to control his situations—making rash decisions filtered through his Fi-Se lense. Since he was 17 (a minor) and eventually turns 18 halfway through the manhwa, this can be seen. *SPOILERS* But later he was brainwashed/affected, it's not like he was given a conscious choice in taking those steps, so that's that. *END OF SPOILERS* In conclusion, he's definitely an ISFP. It may be the most popular vote, but it does have logic behind it. I got to yap about my bb so I'm happy about that. As for his enneagram and why he isn't a 9w1 or anything near that, I could type another comment but the simple reason is he doesn't harbor any sense of responsibility or to appease, everything stems from his personal agendas. That includes his desire for security and the void in his heart. He wants to do well for Penelope *SPOILERS* but that changes clearly as he never wanted that sort of peace she offered nor to satiate a sense of responsibility. *END SPOILERS* So that points to an ennea 6w5.
