Whilst the general internet population agrees that David is in fact an INTP, many people choose to intercept this agreeance to support the false statement that David is an INTJ. Of course, there is evidence as David consistently throughout both the books and the tv show demonstrates to have a high work ethic and determination when it comes to his job, leading the belief that he has Te as his auxiliary function, however this is incorrect. It is evident that he has a higher Te than most other INTPs however this work ethic is only present due to the overwhelming presence of Ti and Ne cognitive functions. Ti is internal thought process and thinking, which David constantly uses to pursue his career and to make better use of his Ne capabilities. He is represented to be relentlessly curious and willing to think outside of the box to see his imaginations and logic come to life, meaning that he is not the user of Ni (as he would if he were to be an INTJ), but instead a very straightforward Ne. One could argue that David is an INTJ because of his structured life, hatred for surprises, lack of spontaneity and disapproval of chaos, this ‘proof’ can also be proved wrong, as the official MBTI book ‘Differing Gifts’ itself states that the P and J come not from ones ability to be organised or disorganised but by their preference to judging qualities (thinking or feeling), or prospecting qualities (intuition or sensing). Therefore, David actively uses thinking more than intuition meaning that since he is an introvert, he is an INTP. Also, on top of that evidence, he also has a small, but clear inferior function of Fe through his love of pleasing Genya. We can see that it is important to him to make her happy, henceforth meaning that he has a clear preference to use Fe over Fi (Another difference between INTP and INTJs cognitive functions). Overall, whilst there is a decent argument to support David being an INTJ, it is wrong as his cognitive functions match INTPs and it is not necessarily to be decided purely based off the ideal of whether he is organised or disorganised. sorry if this is excessively long, but thanks for taking the time to read it, hopefully I have made my opinion impactful

David Kostyk was a Durast and a member of the Grisha Triumvirate. He was a rather quiet Durast who enjoyed using his Grisha talents of manipulating metal and didn't seem to notice anything other than that. As an adult man, his appearance was still described as unassuming and his personality was mild mannered, calm, intellectual, and distracted.
