I agree with the consensus. Still, I'm going to use my comment to comment my dissatisfaction at how the show writers finished off his character arc. They didn't inform us if he was the boyfriend who impregnated and ditched soon-to-be dying Jen. I find it hard to believe he would be the runaway baby-daddy, but the show writers didn't make this clear, so I'm left wondering could it have been C.J., and I still don't think it could have been. His character is laid out well enough that such an action would be strongly out of character, but it's not explained as to whether or not C.J. and Jen were still together. I mean, we didn't see an official break-up between them. He was going somewhere else to do something, that's about it, but a relationship end was not indicated. Last I checked he was still her boyfriend. My question remains eternal and burning. Was C.J. Jen's runaway baby-daddy? I don't think so, but if not him, who? Who else could it be? And that brings me to another problem I have. Apparently, Jen who is depicted throughout the series as this independent "woman icon" girl has her character arc end as a knocked up dependent. What's up with that? And what's up with them always playing Sarah McLachlan's "In the Arms of an Angel" during the deathbed scenes? With such shows it tends to be that or Sting's "Fields of Gold," which I understand if you're trying to make someone sob. Look: What also bothers me is that Jen is treated like this used up hanky come the finale, wiping up everyone else's problems before being flung onto the trash heap. Meanwhile, Joey is once again being eyed as ooh la la trinket in the misty market. Hey. See this. Isn't it shiny? It's a Joey. We go right back to the love triangle, which should really be called the passive-aggressive angsty thankless cold disheartening triangle that might as well be a hexagon that is Dawson, Pacey, and Joey. The worst one is Joey. Although, I can't say I blame her seeing as how both Dawson and Pacey put themselves in her line of rejection multiple times. I really think Joey should have ended up alone. Can I say that? I think Dawson should have ended up married and divorced twice. I think Pacey should have ventured back into being a salesman. I actually liked his goatee. It reminded me of David Xanatos from "Gargoyles." It was a good look for him, but because it made him look more worthwhile they made him shave it. Oh Wait. Joey shaved it. Yes. That's right. Joey shaved it. Her reasoning was she wanted to see his face as if that doesn't exist with a goatee, right? Wanna know what I think was the real reason Joey wanted Pacey's goatee gone? I think Joey subconsciously likes both Dawson and Pacey to be dimwitted boys fighting over her vixen dandelion act. You see, if either Dawson or Pacey grows up enough to see her complaints for what they are - the petty objections of a dissuaded interloper - Joey's insecurity anxieties would not be enabled, thus Miss Potter has to keep both Dawson and Pacey as her personal simp-orbiters so she can stay an impoverished little girl whose daddy went to prison. Dawson and Pacey have for long been simp-orbiters. Can we now call them that? Also, this will suck to admit, but let's be honest and admit that even though Pacey is the best character on the show he also becomes a far bigger simp-orbiter than Dawson ever was. Dawson actually kind of grew out of being a simp-orbiter. His liaison with the actress in Season 6 helped with that. Pacey, on the other hand, continued to simp and orbit Joey like she was the last piece of Civilization. I lost some respect for Pacey because of his irrational fawning over Joey. Pacey, she's not the high yellow moon. Apparently, the writers for "Dawson's Creek" were male for most episodes, but they must have been ass basketball players, because what sort of a guy would want to write guys without any self-respect whatsoever? I get it makes money. Some audience out there likes seeing male characters simping and orbiting. Let's face it, you wouldn't have believable love triangles without male simp-orbiters. Still, does the simping have to get as pathetic as it does? Anyway, I think I've said enough for now. I'm still wondering if C.J. is Jen's baby-daddy. I guess I always will. This will keep me up at night. When I'm (like Jen) on my deathbed I'll be thinking of this. Thank you, Writers of "Dawson's Creek." I will always remember this yearning for indelible closure to the Jen and C.J. relationship arc. I will always remember it. I will always suffer the yearning. So thanks.
