Man, this consensus... being seen as mean and cunning does not an INTJ make. I originally found it difficult to type Minami purely based on how emotionally repressed he is. But isn't that a start in itself? From what we know of his past (in AntaQua), almost all his behavior is a direct result of adapting to the influence of the people around him. He decided to focus on acting instead of playing piano because playing piano would "cause trouble for everyone". He began acting politely because other famous actors told him to do so. He even states that "This is my life, and yet, I’ve only listened to the orders of other people for such a long time." He was constantly trying to become what other people wanted of him, so he nearly lost himself and his own emotions. Would this really happen in the first place to a Fi user, who would place more value on authenticity to the self? I somehow doubt it. So this is why I argue for Minami as a Fe user. "But where is his Fe now? He's too cold and calculating..." Okay, but like... he's emotionally repressed, he's not healthy. You're not going to see much of his Fe if he's unhealthy. And this is why I will also argue that he can be understood as being in an Ni-Ti loop. (Say what you will about looping, but I've used it for arguments before and I'll use it again to support this one.) If he's in a loop, all you'll see is his Ni, which I don't really think I need to explain, and his Ti. I think a good example of his Ti is his fixation on using fortune-telling to try and "read" other people, characterizing them into little boxes via these patterns of logic rather than actually reading their emotions. "An INFJ in a Ni-Ti loop attempts to suppress their emotional side ... they will become extremely withdrawn and private, attempting to become analytical and logical ... they will repress their feelings." This leads into my next point, which is about him being a core 4 and not core 5. Are the 5 votes just because he's mysterious and likes fortune-telling? Like I mentioned, I believe that can be explained by his Ti. Minami's character arc is about establishing his own identity, and pursuing his own passions and dreams. If this isn't the most stereotypical 4 thing ever, I don't know what is. He wants people to recognize himself, and his songs, for what they are: "I want to fight with my song and our true selves." A lot of his behavior can be explained by the unhealthy levels of an enneagram 4 as well. "To stay in touch with feelings, they interiorize everything ... stay withdrawn to protect their self-image and to buy time to sort out feelings." This is exactly what Minami did when he took his leave of absence from acting in order to try and rediscover his dream, passions, and emotions. His envy is obvious when seeing how he felt about Nagi in the beginning, lamenting him for being more well-liked by Sakura Haruki. Also: "But I cannot write a song without sounding romantic." Need I say any more?
