Agree with [olivagooo]. What she did was rebellious. She is also the person who first sees the real value/meaning(whatever you call it) in the palace. She does not follow the rules played by everyone and does not understand most tricks and games. Not that she is stupid but she doesn't care enough and is not used to it. She was chosen by the emperor at first because of how she acted and what she said in e1, which was taught by her family, not by herself. She has this innocent vibe throughout the whole series and never changes.
Biographie
Concubine Hui(惠), she was one of a concubine to the emperor, also Zhen Huan's steadfast friend since childhood. Initially the favorite of the Emperor, she later becomes disillusioned with him, and prefers to spend time with Zhen Huan, the Dowager Empress, and Wen Shichu whom she began having deep affection for.
