In the camping comics the joke is that his by-the-book Si attitude blows up in his face because he can't think outside the box and appears "unlucky" when bad things happen like torrential rainfall. He tries his best to be athletic for the moral fiber (Si already seeing the present activity as an accumulation of past good deeds) but he goofs from time to time on the physical follow through like with coming back from fishing with no fish or tripping on his bike. He's not interested in humoring Calvin's Ne-Ti/Fi or following his specious reasoning. Pretty happy with routine, seeks a comfortable, standard lifestyle filled with the appropriate amount of self improvement.
