His Weverse interview was really a goldmine, you could see uses of all his functions there. Te-doms do everything for a purpose, and are very driven to accomplish what they want. Dino has a clear goal of what a singer should be, and strives to improve himself in all aspects that he can. I think Pledis saw so much potential in him when young in leading others that he had the choice between joining Seventeen or being the leader of the next boy group. “I think if I become a better and cooler person they might come back someday.” is a huge Te mindset - he thinks that the service he provides to us Carats is what determines his worth, which is what makes him so hardworking in that regard. The combination of Te-Ne makes him set concrete goals, and seek different ways to better himself at that goal, such as taking acting classes for more expressive performances. The tertiary Ne makes him open-minded and witty as well (eg his humour in Going Seventeen, he’s quick to catch on and create some snarky remark somehow). This paragraph in particular sounds like Si aux opening up to tertiary Ne: “When I first did “5 in the Morning,” I packed so many moves into every beat that it took me over 30 minutes just to get through two bars. Then I wondered what I could do better. I needed something new and I started working with an instructor who teaches Korean traditional dance, so I took on a completely different genre. I used to only care about the beat and detailed movements, and then suddenly I was struck with this whole new thing. The techniques were basic and the important part was to communicate through the dance. The choreography for “Feeling Good” was a breakthrough for me. I learned how to be true to the way I feel in the moment.” He was so focused on getting the moves down as they were that he didn’t realize he needed something novel to be satisfied. “I’m going to keep seeking out new things to keep my passion burning.” Ne to fuel his Te. This segment comes off to me as his inferior Fi: "When I was a trainee I was especially desperate. I wasn’t in a place where I could reflect on myself and I wasn’t old enough either, so I lingered on every little thing. It’s because I wanted to do a good job. There was a time when I couldn’t let go of my lingering thoughts and held onto too many things, but I think now I learned how to let things go little by little." Inferior Fi is characterized by not being able to understand their own emotions well, so it goes two ways - they either push them away in favour of other matters (“I wasn’t in a place where I could reflect on myself” - turns to the goal of debut) or they start to overthink and ruminate on their morality and actions (“I couldn’t let go of my lingering thoughts”) The greatest indicator of him not using Fe was his segment where he talked about his relationship with Seungkwan. “As we grew up we found out our personalities and our values are completely different. I’m more of a “you do you, I’ll do me” person, but he likes taking care of other people, so we actually fought a lot.”. It definitely sounds like a clash of Te vs Fe - Seungkwan’s more focused on the people in his environment, while Dino is more focused on getting the task done. Dino has strict standards for what the team should be, which the interviewer describes as the kind who is never satisfied. Seungkwan’s spoken on this before, where he says "Dino gets on us if even one of us seems like they're not putting their all into practice. Dino is so hardcore that even when we do a good job, we can't satisfy him." Dino then explains, "I say things to the hyung out of pressure to show an even better stage. It's not because the hyungs don't practice diligently." Seungkwan looks at the situation through Fe lens first, pointing out that Dino thinks “one of them seems like they’re not putting their all into practice”, but Dino looks at it through Te instead, focusing on “giving a better stage.” Honestly, Dino is pretty similar in this regard with Twice’s Jihyo - both ESTJs which can be witty, entertaining and warm while still having that objective, goal-oriented Te mindset.
