Personnalité
"Quel type de personnalité est John Smith? John Smith est un type de personnalité ESTP dans MBTI, 7w8 - sx/sp - 739 dans Enneagram, SCUAI dans Big 5, SLE dans Socionics."
I believe John Smith is an ESTP due to his preference for Fe over Fi. In the opening scene he dived into the sea to save Thomas, completely neglecting the consequences he may face himself. As he was pulled up and his men commended him all he said was "Of course, you all would do the same for me." When it came to digging for gold, which he found little attraction towards, he was always off exploring the land and engaging with it. With his internal thinking he assured Radcliffe (a Te dom) that just because they are unable to see the natives it “doesn’t mean they aren’t out there.” When he first met Miko he offered him a biscuit, seeking to bond with him closer. He later even gifted him his compass in order to entertain and please him. With Flit he also tried to gain his trust/acceptance and kept assuring him that he's "not a stranger anymore." As he met Pocahontas and noticed her frightened expression he pleaded for her to "Wait! Please..." and "Don't run off." He assured her that everything was "alright" and that he's "not going to hurt" her. He helped her out of her canoe and asked for her name although he was taught/trained to kill her people on sight. He was incredibly eager to learn about her customs and ways, such as how to express hello and goodbye in Powhatan. He also shared with her the customs of London, although he was bored by them himself, as he noticed her interest. All of these examples demonstrate his Fe appeal and desire for relation. During his argument with Pocahontas he tried to explain that her thinking was flawed because she "doesn't know any better." When he realized he offended her he chased after her, begging her to wait and to not “take it that way.” He assured her "there's so much we can teach you. We've improved the lives of savages all over the world." When he recognized he messed up once again he tried rephrasing it that she was "not a savage." Due to his Fe he was trying desperately to explain to her, without insulting her, that her way of living was novice and there was far more for her to explore/see. He pleaded "Listen...that's not what I meant. Hey don't do this, savage is just a word! A term for…people who are uncivilized. Well when I say uncivilized what I mean is, is..." He truly tried to choose his words carefully and sought to keep a connection with her (Fe desire) although he had just met her and it was against his orders. When Pocahontas came to see him when he was captured, he noted her self-blaming (Fi dom) and jokingly tried to play it off with his Fe-child saying "For what, this? I've gotten out of worse scrapes than this...can't think of anything right now, but…" When she continued to criticize herself he told her "Pocahontas look at me, I'd rather die tomorrow than live a hundred years without knowing you." He further consoled her, assuring "no matter what happens to me, I'll always be with you forever." I think due to his high Fe I would type him as an ESTP over ESFP since he didn't show much evidence of being grounded in his own personal values/beliefs. He was incredibly self-sacrificing and understanding. Eager to learn the world and more about the people around him. He sought to make connections everywhere and people often liked him such as his men, Pocahontas, etc. Please don’t type based off of letters (Feeler or Thinker) but rather on functioning Fi vs Fe, etc.
