Biographie
The Enhanced Defense Intelligence, or EDI (pronounced 'Ee-Dee' [ˈiːdiː]), is an AI created by Cerberus and installed aboard the Normandy SR-2. Initially, EDI is a soulless machine whose only purpose is to offer analysis and advice. She is a very pleasant person; she's an illegal AI developed from Reaper technology by a terrorist organisation. EDI develops a sense of humor overtime, frequently telling jokes, though she often needs to state whether something is a joke or not. Her sense of humor tends to be rather dark (I enjoy the sight of humans on their knees) and so goes deeply unappreciated by others. EDI philosophizes on the holographic theory of existence. She surmises that she is merely a two-dimensional image on the cosmological horizon; that is, she can see and record things, but can never feel or experience them. EDI thinks reproduction is the raison d'être of organics, yet searching biographies of prominent human figures causes her to prioritize duty, altruism, and love.
