[EDIT: I still think he's ISFJ but not for these reasons LOL] Alright. Kiibo is one of my very favourite Danganronpa characters, and I’ve been meaning to write out an argument on his page for a while, so here we go. (sry for the length LOL) I think Kiibo is an ISFJ, not an ISTJ. Unfortunately it’s likely that a lot of users have voted him as an ISTJ based on stereotypes (he’s a robot, he has trouble understanding social cues, he uses logic during the trials, etc.), and I’d like to challenge that by taking a closer look at his personality. There’s genuinely so much I could say about this topic, but I’d like to keep this comment as spoiler-free as possible (and also < 5000 characters), so I can’t address everything. While Kiibo does boast about how unique he is as a robot, being different from the people around him is still a major source of insecurity for him. We see that he exhibits a serious lack of confidence regarding his identity, and he’s often shown wishing he could do the same things humans can: however, his sentiments aren’t motivated by a desire for efficiency or simplicity (as they most likely would be in an aux Te user) but instead come from his need to fit in among members of human society, which is more indicative of Fe. Now, that isn’t to say that he doesn’t care about his efficiency at all, but I still see it as secondary to his desire to fit in. I also think that him caring about his capabilities as a robot largely comes from the love he feels towards his creator (Professor Idabashi). He is aware that he is Professor Idabashi’s life’s work, so he feels like his self-worth is intrinsically tied to that of the Professor’s (after all, if he were to be an incompetent robot, it would reflect poorly upon the Professor), further proving that Kiibo bases his self-worth upon the wishes and feelings of others instead of on Te values. Kiibo’s fixation with fitting in leads to him exhibiting a high degree of curiosity; so much so, in fact, that in Chapter 5 (MINOR SPOILER) he nearly gets himself crushed by a hydraulic press simply because he wanted to see whether its safety function would register him as a human being or not. (END SPOILER) A Te-Fi user would probably be much more self-assured regarding their identity and would likely see all of Kiibo’s pondering as more or less pointless. Kiibo also highly values group harmony and understands the importance of social conventions. Now, as we know, he isn’t very good at adhering to these conventions, since throughout the game he becomes the butt of many jokes due to his tendency to misread social cues. In spite of that, however, he does always try his best to behave properly, since he wants to fit in and maintain a positive atmosphere; he feels obligated to conform to the values of those around him, which to me definitely shows high Fe usage. Moreover, even when someone is cruel to Kiibo, he will still demonstrate kindness and empathy towards them. We see this primarily with Kokichi: despite the fact that Kokichi can be very rude to him, Kiibo always remains polite and even continues to hang out with him. To be honest, we see through their relationship that Kiibo can be a bit of a doormat… I don’t think a Te-Fi user would normally allow themselves to get pushed around so easily. Finally, while Kiibo is probably one of the more sensible characters in the third game (although let’s be real here: the bar is pretty low), that doesn’t automatically make him a Thinker! I really do think he demonstrates tertiary Ti. He seems to operate based on his own perception of logical consistency, although admittedly he does remain pretty gullible at times. He also frequently backs up his Fe values with Ti thinking, often emphasizing that cooperation is the course of action that makes the most logical sense to him. Additionally, he cares deeply about pursuing the truth, stating at one point that “it is never bad to have too much information”. He shows Ti-like values during trials, too: he is reluctant to jump to conclusions, always preferring that everyone understands the entire case before casting their votes; efficiency is not as important to him as logical truth is. Not to mention that during the fourth trial (MAJOR CH4 SPOILERS) he is one of the few characters who is willing to explore the possibility of Gonta being the culprit despite the seemingly nonsensical circumstances. (END SPOILER) I'd also like to briefly add that I think Kiibo is a 1w2, not a 6w5, giving him a bit of an idealistic streak which I suppose can make him appear slightly like a Te-Fi user. That’s about it for now! Like I said, there is a LOT more I could address, especially about things that happen in the final chapter of the game, so if I’m feeling up to it I might leave another comment addressing everything that happens during that part at some point in the future. I hope everything I said makes sense!
