Totalitarianism refers to an academic description of ultra-authoritarian political systems in where the major forms of a government apparatus are held by dictatorial regimes that have some level of control over most aspects of life and frequently levy bans on any form of vocal opposition and dissent that may go against any perceived stability or hegemony that their state power and prominence might hold within the context of said society.
