With Episode 13 out I'll chime in and say that Kanade is not an 8, he's a clear 1. He doesn't value power and control, but principles and perfection. w2 over w9 due to his social skills and plan to build up reputation as a "good guy" with the Metropoliman gig. Secondary 3 fix based on him rambling about money and status. He is Light Yagami 2.0 in a sense, whereas Light hated criminals he hates those born poor and ugly and wants to Thanos (also a corrupt 1) them if he becomes God; different target, but same thought process. Here's a quick and dirty way to tell if an ExTJ character is a 1, 3 or 5: Ask yourself to what extent they would agree they would agree with Frank Underwood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYnnm3L12fA&ab_channel=borninleningrad 3s are more likely to disagree, viewing wealth as a tangible symbol of status; if I have more than you, I'm better than you, and I can show it off. 8s will agree, because 8s are driven by power, not necessarily for its own sake, but because they only need take orders by those who have more of it than they do, but that money is simply one form of power, like physical might or intelligence. 1s will neither agree nor disagree, but lament how money can corrupt people according to whatever set of internal principles they have. They are more likely to disagree usually, morality is more defined by said principles, what is right is what brings them closer to perfect alignment with said principles. This is in stark contrast to the 8 view on morality, which at its core boils down to "might makes right" as defined by Thucydides long ago: "Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.” Kanade is not driven to become God because he wants the power to be the strongest, so to speak. He's driven by it because its an efficient way to carry out his desire to purge the world ugly and poor people, who he sees as totally imperfect and disgusting, as opposed to his perfectionistic (trait of 1, he will "reform" the world), "beautiful" view he has of himself. Therefore, he's a 1.
