I watched his interview with Jenson Button and he describes himself as a worrier and a sensitive person and I definitely see that in him. He said that he was constantly nervous of crashing in changing conditions and his mind was like "oh no now I'm going to crash and ruin everything I'm so bad at this" which is definitely unusual for an F1 driver. He also said that he needs to feel wanted and loved in a team for him to perform well. From this and how he seemed to sympathize deeply with Button's struggles (almost seemed a bit melancholic when Jenson shared them, like he felt it more than Jenson himself?) I get the impression of a person that sort of absorbs emotions from people around him. I can definitely see why the pressure of the "silver war" and what happened to his friendship with Lewis hit him so hard!
