She’s a difficult figure to type, but based on what little we have, I lean ESTJ for Xanthippe. Most of her portrayal comes from people around Socrates, so it’s definitely biased - but even through that lens, the pattern that shows up is someone grounded in practical reality and frustrated with a lack of structure. Her reactions seem less about emotional expression (Fi) or harmony (Fe), and more about things not being handled - household, responsibility, stability. The famous anecdote where she dumps water on Socrates after an argument is often used to paint her as “emotional,” but honestly it reads more like built-up frustration finally snapping outward. Not identity-driven or introspective—just “this situation is not working.” I don’t really see the forward, strategic vision of ENTJ here. Xanthippe (/zænˈθɪpi/; Greek: Ξανθίππη, Ancient: [ksantʰípɛː], Modern: [ksanˈθipi]; 5th–4th century BCE) was an ancient Athenian, the wife of Socrates and mother of their three sons: Lamprocles, Sophroniscus, and Menexenus. She was likely much younger than Socrates, perhaps by as much as 40 years. In Xenophon's Symposium, she is described by Antisthenes as "the most difficult, harshest, painful, ill-tempered" wife; this characterisation of Xanthippe has influenced all subsequent portrayals of her.
