Dazai in game and anime has tried saving taints because he knew there was a living breathing human being still there, (even if they couldn't be brought out anymore) he feels guilty for the things he does out of impulsiveness regardless of who it is he did it to and as told in the anime basically does just want everyone to be happy, so i think chaotic good would be more appropriate as while having good intentions he's also willing to disregard rules to help others (best showcase of this in the anime is when he delved to save Taint!/\kutagawa)
