Xavier Niel, born August 25, 1967 in Maisons-Alfort (France), is a French billionaire businessman. His fortune was estimated at $8.6 billion by Forbes magazine on March 1, 2023. He is the founder and principal shareholder of Iliad, a French telecommunications group and parent company of Internet service provider Free and mobile operator Free mobile. In the early 2000s, he pioneered triple-play offers and the box concept in France. He was a member of the Conseil National du Numérique from 2011 to 2012, and the driving force behind the 42 self-study computer schools, as well as the Station F project in Paris.
